Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

• Account information: email address, display name, password (hashed by Firebase Authentication), and, if you use Sign in with Apple, a privacy-preserving Apple ID.
• Profile information: basketball position, age range, gender, avatar selection, and team code if you join through a team.
• Gameplay data: quiz attempts, responses, response times, streaks, XP, hearts, diamonds, IQ score, and category-level performance.
• Device and usage data: device type, operating system, app version, crash logs, and anonymous usage analytics collected by Firebase and, on iOS, Unity Ads SDK.
• Subscription data: if you purchase a subscription, our payment processors (Apple, Stripe, and Superwall) handle your payment information. We receive subscription status only — never your card number.

2. How we use your information

• Provide and personalize the HooperIQ experience, including quizzes, IQ scoring, and recommendations.
• Show coaches the aggregated performance of their team roster (only if you have joined a team).
• Operate, maintain, and secure the service.
• Improve our curriculum and content based on aggregated, anonymized performance data.
• Send occasional product updates (you can opt out at any time).

3. Children's privacy (under 13)

HooperIQ is used by youth athletes, including those under 13. For users under 13, we rely on verifiable parental consent provided either directly by a parent or through the school, team, or organization that invites the child via a team code. We collect only the minimum information necessary to run the service and never use children's personal information for behavioral advertising.

Parents and guardians may review, update, or request deletion of their child's information at any time by emailing support@hooperiq.com.

4. Third-party services we use

• Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Storage, Cloud Messaging, Analytics, Crashlytics)
• Superwall — subscription entitlement management on iOS
• Stripe — payment processing on web
• Cloudflare — video delivery
• Apple App Store / Google Play — mobile subscription billing
• Vercel — hosting for our web application

These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy practices. We do not sell your personal information.

5. Data retention and deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Settings inside the app. When you delete your account, we mark it for removal and purge your personal data (including gameplay history) within 30 days, except where we must retain records for legal or security reasons. Aggregated, non-identifying data may be retained to improve our service.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, California, the EU/UK, or Canada), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, email support@hooperiq.com.

7. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit (TLS), Firebase security rules, hashed passwords, and restricted internal access. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email. The “Last updated” date above will always reflect the most recent version.
